Goddess Spirituality Book, Rituals, Holydays and Moon Magic,
By Ffiona Morgan Tells us all how to attract who and what we want
in our lives. The book was previously published as "Wild Witches
Donít Get the Blues" and it seems that Ffiona is the Wild
Witch. She comes to her title naturally, due to her Welsh heritage. Her
name "Ffiona" symbolizes "light of the moon"
and "Morgan" is the Goddess of darkness, visions, automatic
writing and things that are not possible. Morgan will pick you as her
own, as she picked Ffiona. Her "bio" goes on to say, "She
loves to read, loves to write, (lucky us), as well as radical feminism,
dancing, singing, wild country and wild women."
From the beginning, Ffiona clearly states her vision and intention by
"writing the book exclusively in "the female" as a step
in reclaiming ourselves." She goes on to state that, "We as
women, have been omitted, erased and made invisible in the language, history
and cultures of our peoples." She invites us all to discover the
power of being a woman, of knowing the Goddess, and celebrating the Mother
Earth and her cycles. Ffiona offers us her wisdom and shares with us not
only how to do magic successfully, but the ability to use it properly
within the light. She also shares with us, her deepest thoughts. "While
writing this chapter, (Chapter 4, The Sacred wheel of the Year) I realized
that the structure and the system of "The Wheel" pays and inordinate
amount of attention to celebration of the light, and very little to the
celebration of the dark. In order to create a non-racist woman spirit,
this must be changed. If Summer Solstice(longest day) was a celebration
of the "Light" then Winter Solstice(longest night) must have
been a celebration of the Dark to our foremothers and should be celebrated
as such. The lack of attention to the dark is "whitewashing"
in the broadest sense and is inherent in the structure of Wicce. Therefore,
feminist Wicce, which is a facet of tradition Wicce, should also be examine
for racism."
I highly recommend this book to all women, especially those recently curious
about their own spirituality, not to mention Magic! I also recommend it
to those of us who have already chosen a path; it is an excellent book.
